BalasPadam"..apa-apa saja yang ada di sekeliling anda akan dianggap sebagai art...love is art and everything is art..."
Definitely one of the breakthrough young artists of 2008? Judge for yourself... Nathalie has shown & continues to mesmerize many with her unique style of interpreting & presenting her artistic visions and/or repertoire onto the canvas. My OWN favourites being her pieces REALITY OF A DREAM & TWINS IN A DREAM.
A seasoned artist? Well, being just a 1st year UBD arts student, Nathalie has shown great promise & potential in the line of her heart's interest.
Being invited to present her works with several other young Bruneian artists at an invitational 'Brunei-Malaysia Arts Exchange 2008' in Pulau Pinang was definitely one of the highlights in 2008. Not just a life-enriching experience or morale-boosting, the event presented an opportunity of a life time whereby Nathalie received the acknowledgement of the quality of her works by her peers/instructors, enough to represent Brunei Darussalam and to be shared with the rest of the international artistic community. It also sowed seeds of confidence in her psyche so as to be more experimental in her artistic directions and presentations. Not forgetting to mention making her eager and looking forward to another local AND international arts exhibition.
A ‘solo exhibition’? That day will definitely be Thailand-themed…
cg khalid....ini drawing belalong...i like this view thats why i choose to draw this.
BalasPadamcg khalid..thats my new painting..i ilustrasikan drpd sajak my dad..hope u enjoy seeing it..and have comment on my painting...ehehe sawadikah...
BalasPadamyes,,,good drawing, cuba berbagai cara lagi menggunakan pen dan pensil.
BalasPadamthat painting has got a story i suppose but a good painting must have a certain structure.macam orang gubah lagu, senikatanya adalah ceritanya, melodinya adalah lagunya, structure painting adalah melodi painting, kalau melodinya sedap didengar, senang diikut maka keseluruhan lagu adalah berjaya, tapi utuk mendapatkan satu melodi itu satu cabaran bagi penggubah lagu..u can improve after u see what i mean.
BalasPadamtq cg khalid....yes i will try different style and technique.
BalasPadamerm...myb i understand what u mean...terima kasih atas komen yg membimbing sir..i try to improve and learn what u have said...nnti free tym i show u my painting and explain the meaning. :)
BalasPadamArtists urged to blend local culture in artworks
BalasPadamSunday, January 18, 2009
LOCAL artists were urged to incorporate Brunei's culture in their artwork as a way to promote the country to the world.
Australia aboriginal artist, Michael J Connoly, in a talk during a seminar and workshop he conducted yesterday said: "The first step is to establish a connection with your environment and then show it in your painting, this way people will get to know Brunei culture."
He said a lot of people still don't know much about Brunei and local artists could play a part in promoting it, for instance by illustrating the country' culture in their artwork.
According to Head of Art, Graphic and Photography at the Language and Literature Bureau, Abdul Malek Hj Matarsat, the seminar and workshop was held for the first of its kind being organised. Some 30 local artists attended the event.
The bureau took the opportunity of the Australian artist being in the Sultanate for the Australian Art Exhibition at Sheraton recently to invite him to conduct the seminar, said Abdul Malek. "We are very lucky to have him because it gives local artists the opportunity explore different areas of painting," he added.
Viewing the fact that there is a lack of such art seminar in Brunei, this was indeed a rare opportunity especially when it was conducted by a well renowned artist.
One of the participants, an artist at the bureau, Pg Timbang Hj Tuah commented that the seminar would benefit budding young artists as it could guide them before they involve themselves further into the industry. With 13 years of experience in the industry he shared Michael's view on the importance of incorporating their culture in one's painting.
"This could educate people on Brunei culture, so in a way it promotes our nation to the world," he said.
For a Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) undergraduate, Ampuan Siti Ramlah Ampuan Babba, the seminar gives her a new art perspective.
"But not all his view can be applied to our country, this is because he is emphasising more on his spiritual side which is different from our own religious beliefs," commented the UBD undergraduate.
However, she added, overall she found the seminar and workshop interesting and educational.
In addition to the talk, Micheal also demonstrated his musical skill by playing the didgeridoo a wind instrument of the Aborigines. The participants were also given an opportunity to paint under his guidance. The aboriginal artist, who is hailed from Charleville in South West Queensland, is a descendant of the Kullila tribe and the Muruwari people. Micheal is well known for blending his own contemporary urban indigenous style. (DKR1) The Brunei Times
